7/02/25: Jesus' Unmatched Authority Over Darkness

Wednesday Mass. 7.02.25.

In this homily, I discuss the contrast between ancient Jewish practices for dealing with demonic possession and the way Jesus Christ handles such situations. Unlike the rabbis who needed artifacts and invoked the names of past figures, Jesus demonstrates his authority by commanding demons directly. This highlights the power and sovereignty of Jesus as the Son of God. I reflect on the need to trust in God’s authority over every aspect of our lives, even in times of struggle and suffering, and question whether we are truly willing to let Him take control.
